Description
The Speedhut Speedbox w/ GM/Ford/Chrysler Thread-on Cable 5/8-18 (A-368) offers a seamless solution for integrating your existing mechanical speedometer with modern vehicle systems. This innovative device expertly converts either a precise GPS signal or a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) input into a mechanical rotation, directly driving your original, cable-driven speedometer. This eliminates the need to replace your classic gauge when upgrading to a transmission without a mechanical output or when seeking enhanced accuracy through GPS-based speed measurement. The included 3-foot long speedometer cable features a 5/8-18 thread, specifically designed for direct compatibility with many General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler speedometers.
KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
- Dual Signal Input: Accepts both GPS signals (via the included antenna) and VSS signals from contemporary electronic transmissions, providing flexibility in various installation scenarios.
- Mechanical Drive Output: Features a 7/8″-18 drive output thread and a standard 0.112″ square drive, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of mechanical speedometer cables.
- Direct Cable Connection: This specific A-368 model includes a 3-foot long speedometer cable with a 5/8-18 thread, offering a direct connection to many GM, Ford, and Chrysler speedometers.
- Precise Calibration: Capable of calibration across a broad range of 170 to 1650 turns per mile (TPM), allowing for accurate speedometer readings with various gauge specifications. It also comes pre-calibrated for US standard 1000 TPM speedometers.
- Simplified Installation: Designed for easy setup, requiring only basic 12-volt power and ground connections. GPS functionality operates without any subscription fees.
- Compact and Integrated: The unit boasts a compact form factor, facilitating discreet mounting within the dashboard or engine bay.
