Description
Meticulously prepared parts have been created by experienced chairmakers to make this project doable by an intermediate woodworker in about 10 hours.
The hard maple spindles have been turned and sanded. The poplar seat has been cut to shape and holes bored at the correct angles, requiring only final shaping and sanding. The oak bows have been steambent to shape. It’s a great project for learning how to build a chair. Tools needed to complete the project include an orbital sander, hammer, drill and a few chisels.
The Fan Back Chair was developed around 1775. Its fan back design feature distinguishes this chair from the standard bows of the traditional Windsor.
Highland Blogger Kelley O’Toole assembled theSackback Windsor Chair Kit, and wrote about her experience on theHighland Blog. Read about ithere!
