Mueller Gutter Adze

The gouge-shaped blade and in-cannel cutting edges (bevel ground on the inside) allow these adzes to make pairing cuts within convex shapes.

Because you cannot ride the bevel with this edge configuration, they would not be suitable for deep hewing cuts like for bowl carving – where you would be better with an adze having an out-cannel cutting edge (that lets you ride the bevel when cutting with more control).

Thesmall adzehas a 150mm (6″) long by 50mm (1-15/16″) wide blade, with a curve of about 23mm (7/8″) radius – approximately a #8 sweep. Overall length is 450mm (17-1/2″). Ash handle.

Thelarge adzehas a 210mm (8-1/4″) long by 80mm (3-1/16″) wide blade, with a curve of about 28mm (1-1/8″) radius – approximately a #9 sweep. Overall length is 450mm (17-1/2″).Ash handle.
