Description
The Speedhut Chrysler Speedometers Clip-on Mechanical Drive Cable (A-285) offers a modern solution for operating your original Chrysler mechanical speedometer. Designed specifically for Chrysler gauges utilizing a “clip-on style” connection, this cable seamlessly integrates with Speedhut’s innovative SPEEDBOX™ (sold separately). This combination allows you to drive your classic speedometer using a precise GPS signal, providing accurate and reliable speed readings without needing a traditional mechanical connection to the vehicle’s transmission. The 3-foot length of the cable offers flexibility in mounting the required SPEEDBOX unit in a convenient and accessible location behind your dashboard.
KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
- GPS-Driven Speed: Enables your original Chrysler mechanical speedometer to display speed based on a GPS signal when used with the Speedhut SPEEDBOX.
- Direct Connection: Specifically designed with a clip-on connector to directly attach to compatible Chrysler mechanical speedometers.
- Flexible Installation: The 3-foot cable length allows for adaptable routing and mounting of the SPEEDBOX unit.
- Preserves Original Aesthetics: Allows you to retain the look and feel of your classic Chrysler’s original speedometer while benefiting from modern GPS technology.
- Reliable Performance: When paired with the SPEEDBOX, it provides accurate and consistent speed readings derived from GPS or an optional Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) input to the SPEEDBOX.
SPECIFICATIONS:

HOW TO USE:
- Install the Speedhut SPEEDBOX™: Mount the SPEEDBOX unit in a convenient location behind your vehicle’s dashboard, ensuring it has access to a 12-volt power source and a suitable ground connection. Connect either the GPS antenna or the VSS wire to the SPEEDBOX as per the SPEEDBOX instructions.
- Connect the A-285 Cable to the SPEEDBOX: One end of the Speedhut A-285 cable is designed to screw onto the mechanical output of the SPEEDBOX unit. Ensure a secure connection.
- Connect the A-285 Cable to the Speedometer: Carefully locate the mechanical input on the back of your Chrysler’s speedometer. The A-285 cable features a “clip-on” style connector. Align the connector with the speedometer input and gently push it into place until it securely clips on.
